A message from Mike Kyrios, ICAP 2010 Scientific Program Chair

On behalf of the Local Scientific Program Committee, I'd like to invite you to participate in the scientific program of ICAP 2010. Submissions are now open for symposia, open papers, panel discussions, brief oral presentations, and electronic posters. Please feel free to contact us if you require any help or clarification regarding the information we have provided. We are committed to helping you join us to create a successful congress.

ICAP 2010 aims to be the premier international forum for applied psychology. We hope to attract over 2,500 psychologists, researchers and health professionals from around the world.

The Congress will provide delegates a scientific program of global significance and regional relevance. The importance of psychological factors and the application of psychological knowledge to individuals, groups, communities, societies and the world community will be highlighted throughout the Congress.

The Congress will cover the broad range of applied psychology including topics such as: clinical, health, forensic, counselling, and community psychology; cross-cultural and indigenous psychology; educational and developmental psychology; applied gerontology; organisational psychology; psychological assessment and testing; statistical methods; economic and political psychology; environmental and traffic psychology; sports psychology; applied cognitive psychology and clinical neuropsychology; psychological treatments; models of care; future developments in psychological services; consumers; other health professionals; ethics; social issues; etc.

The scientific program will consist of:

  • State-of-the-art keynote addresses by internationally renowned experts covering key areas of applied psychology
  • Invited and IAAP Divisional addresses by international experts
  • Symposia
  • Panel discussions and forums with experts
  • Debates about controversies in applied psychology
  • Streams of individual papers highlighting specific topics of interest
  • Brief oral presentations and electronic posters using state-of-the-art technology
  • A comprehensive program of full-day and half-day workshops presented by world-class practitioners
  • Programs highlighting specific issues in applied psychology
  • Visits to some of Melbourne 's best known psychological research facilities.

The Congress will also see the launch of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) Handbook of Applied Psychology to be published by Wiley-Blackwell. The Handbook will provide state-of-the-art reviews of a range of areas in applied psychology covering the IAAP Divisions.

A program for psychologists from emerging economies will complement ICAP 2010 and a range of satellite conferences will be held regionally. The 45th Annual APS Conference will be run in conjunction with ICAP 2010.
